Hands On VRS becomes the first video relay service provider to launch a SPANISH-ONLY WEBSITE for the Latino community
ROCKLIN, CA - June 20, 2007-Today Hands On Video Relay Services (HOVRS), became the first Video Relay Service provider to offer a website that is accessible to the Spanish-speaking segment of the deaf and hard of hearing community. The Spanish-language website is an enhanced service that builds upon HOVRS en Español, the Video Relay Service that is accessible to the Spanish-speaking segment of the deaf and hard of hearing community.
Spanish-speaking users of Video Relay Services may click on the "Español" button on the upper left corner of the www.hovrs.com home page to access the Spanish-language area of the website and access features such as speed dialing and personalized profiles. Each element of the www.hovrs.com website has been translated into Spanish.
With HOVRS en Español, HOVRS became the first Video Relay Service provider to offer Spanish-language services with video interpreters fluent in Spanish - standing by 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The service allows people who communicate in American Sign Language (ASL) to connect to Spanish-speaking friends, family, and co-workers through Video Relay Services. Hearing Spanish speakers may also reach ASL signers by dialing a toll-free number and connect through HOVRS.
HOVRS Founder and Chief Executive Officer Ronald E. Obray commented, "The HOVRS en Español website is long overdue. It's in line with the company's history that we are the first provider to offer this level of accessibility to so many people."
The HOVRS en Español website was created in line with the company's mission of breaking down communication barriers for deaf and hard of hearing people. "This is a major breakthrough in accessibility for the deaf and hard of hearing Latino community, and we are thrilled to offer this new service," said Mark Bella, Business Unit Manager for HOVRS en Español.
